Anti-Housekeeper??
Dear Bernice,
I've three dogs; two Jack Russel females and a rescue Boxer x Staffie, which is male. They all get along like a house on fire. They adore each other, they adore children, they LOVE visitors, they adore cats a little less...but for some reason, the Boxer x Staffie CANNOT stand our new housekeeper!
We had a previous lady work for us and everything was fine, we actually got her, because she was know for her love of animals. They got along just dandy. Then suddenly one day, he starts acting affraid of her and goes into fight or flight mode when she's around. He'll either hide outside the entire day or bark aggresively and jump up on her. We got her to give him biscuits etc, then he's fine and his tail wags and he is very happy...but as soon as the biscuit is forgotten, he acted up again. We dont know if she ever did anything to him or what happened in the first four months of his life before we adopted him.
Any way, so she had to leave to go back to Zimbabwe and we've just found another darling of a lady...and we have the same problem. She is so scared of him, that I have to lock him (with the other two) outside when she comes to work.
It can't be that he is racist, as we have had friends of colour over and he was perfectly fine with them...?
I must say he initially acted the same when I came into the house with another friend of mine, it was as if he wanted to protect me from her? She then ended up house sitting while I was abroad and the two fell in love...So really, I don't know what this is about...?
Can you perhaps help?
He is not always aggressive, sometimes he just barks...
