DASCHUND BEHAVIOUR PROBLEMS
Dear Bernice,
We adopted our neighbours Daschund crossing in December last year. Her name is Roxy and she is really adorable. The problem that we have is that she does not get along with our housekeeper. She barks and charges at her. She eventually calms down a bit while the housekeeper is in the house but as soon as the housekeeper leaves the house and comes back inside it starts all over again. I am not sure if it is fear or aggression or a combination of both. She does not bite her.
We took her to the Vet to get her injections up to date. According to the Vet se is +/- 4 years old. She is sterilised.
We contacted a Behaviour specialist in February this year who gave us a few pointers with no success. She then suggested medication.
Roxy is now on the medication for nearly five weeks but I do not really see any difference yet. It is an anti-depressant.
Her behaviour is a big problem for us because we cannot leave her to go out. We want to get het a companion but I am wondering if she will teach her behaviour problems to the new puppy?
Do you think a site visit will be best?
Thank you for your time
Michelle
