We have a bit of a situation with our 3 year old male Labby X Border Collie. He is very aggressive towards other dogs and small children, especially children that we give attention to. At this stage we do not have children of our own, but do not trust him with children of our friends, as he already bit one of them in the face, the scar was not severe, we think he just tried to make a point, but it could have been very serious.
His aggression towards other dogs started when he was attacked by 2 Jack Russels. He is very loving towards cats, as he grew up with them, and maybe think he is one himself ;)
We just got a new little small breed puppy, with the hopes that he will become more "relaxed" towards other dogs , and maybe children too, but with no luck :( We have taken her out to him for the last week so that he can sniff her but he doesn't want to look in her direction at all. When we put him on his leash and let her come to him slowly he snapped at her. Since we've gotten the new puppy we have not neglected him, as a matter of fact he got more love and attention, to show him that we still love him. We think the problem is jealousy, we've had him since he was only 4 weeks old, and he have been like a child in our house. But this problem is starting to get out of control, and as we are looking to start a family we really need any advise or help.
