Hi. Is your pooch doing the damage when you are out? If yes then he is suffering from separation anxiety. But thanks so much for giving him a forever home. This is not a quick fix and as long as while you are doing it you NEVER shout or smack him for the damages, you will get there. Put the next 6 weeks aside and be prepared for putting all your precious things away. Do not leave anything out that can be damaged. Take him for a good walk before you go out. Give him (depending on his size) 2 rescue tablets for small pooch, 4 for medium and 6 for large about 10 minutes before you go out. Do not say goodbye but leave him with an extra yummy bone. Leave the house in your car and go for a 5 minute drive. Come back, do not greet any of the pooches until they are calm, pick up the yummy bone. Do not look for any damages he may have done, and if you see anything, completely ignore it. He knows that when you go out you always come home angry with him so he chews, or digs to destress himself. You come home and are angry and so starts a vicious cycle. In an hour, go out for 10 minutes and increase the time away everytime. Good luck, and remember to be patient with him. Call me if it does not improve... 0798837566.
