At ends meet with dogs..
Hi Bernice.. Me and my husband have 3 Golden Cocker Spaniels (2 males, 1 female). But we're having serious problems with them. We live in a security complex, but we have the biggest yard of all the houses. Problem one: Male 1 (Maximus, 2.5 years) - this is a crazy dog. This dog doesn't understand the word "calmly". Every action is like a tornado. When we stop in front of our garage, he starts "screaming". When we get to the back door to let them in, he screams and jumps up and down, constantly. When we give the command to sit, he cannot sit still. Ignoring him until he is calms, does not work.
Problem 2: Male 2 (Caesar, 1.5 years) This dog is ball and toy obsessed. He will aggressively take the ball or toy out of the other dogs mouth and keep everything with him. They have 2 kennels to sleep in at night, but for some reason all 3 sleeps in one. Whenever Caesar leaves the kennel at night, the other 2 refuses to let him in again and then he barks in front of the kennel the whole night. ]
Problem 3: Caesar is destructive. He tears up everything, pulls washing from the line, pulls out plants, dig holes.
Problem 4: Barking and playing at night and early morning. Our female, Xena (2.5 years) have been sterilized. She is the calmer one, always in the background of the action. She barks to get attention, she barks at everything. She attacks the 2 males when they dare to bark.
Problem 5: Pulling on the leach. All 3 of them do this. Stopping and waiting for them to calm, does not work. They can't keep still for 2 seconds. Maximus pulls and barks in the direction of passer by's. And spins in a circle if we try to hold him back.
We are both working full day. We are expecting our first baby and I don't have the energy to deal with this behaviour anymore. We have done all the training we read about, and nothing seems to work. We don't get any rest. We can't keep them inside because Maximus marks everything, even our bed, Caesar chews everything and Xena barks at anything.
Hope you can help!
