Pets improve your health!
This might seem unreal, but according to recent studies animals can improve your health in more ways than one!
Cats and dogs are good for your heart
Could owning a dog or cat keep your heart healthy? Research has shown that the long-term benefits of owning a pet include protection of your heart and reduced risk of cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol levels. Over the 20 years of one study, people who had never owned a cat were 40% more likely to die of a heart attack than those who had. Another study showed that dog owners had a significantly better survival rate one year after a heart attack than those who did not own a dog. Overall, pet owners have a lower risk of dying from any cardiac disease, including heart failure.
Cats and dogs are good for your cholesterol levels
Normally you need to have a strict diet, exercise and take medication to keep your cholesterol level low. But owning a dog or a cat has the potential of making it easier to avoid the dangers of cholesterol. There are lower noted levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in people who own pets compared to people who don't.
Fewer allergies and a stronger immunity for children
Researchers have found that kids growing up in a home with four-legged furry friends will have less risk of allergies and asthma. A study also shows that babies who are living in a home with a dog are healthier in general, require fewer antibiotics and suffer from fewer respiratory in their first year of life.
These are just a few points where pets can help you keep healthy. They can keep you in better physical fitness, keep you participating in daily exercise and enhance your mood as well!!
